We want to ensure that programming at the Institute for Common Power appeals to and impacts people from across generational boundaries. To this end, we have designed programming that can positively impact the lives of youth and allows families with young children to participate in our work.

Youth and Family Programming

Scholars In Motion

The Scholars in Motion program focuses on high school students who reside in Project-Based Rental Assistance housing. The Institute for Common Power provides tutoring for their current classes, SAT / ACT preparation, college visits, college application fees, and other forms of guidance to help high school students have the best portfolio possible when they apply to college.

This program is designed to give access to economically marginalized youth who are typically denied access to the programs, hired coaching, tutoring, and other forms of support often required to be accepted to colleges (particularly more prestigious colleges). Students in the program do not pay for anything. Once the students are in college, they will have access to Action Academy.

Family Voter Registration Drive

The Family Voter Registration Drive is designed to provide opportunities for families to work together in our continuing effort to create a just and inclusive democracy. Access to the vote is a hallmark of democracy. Common Power and the Institute for Common Power are dedicated to ensuring that everyone has access to the ballot and fully appreciates the power of the vote. Helping to register people to vote is a very important step in the journey of fostering justice and inclusion.

We launched this program in September, 2022 in Phoenix. Each year, we will add additional states to the list. This is an annual effort to bring people from all generations into the work of civic responsibility and the creation of a better society.

More information about the 2023 Family Voter Registration Drive will be available soon.
